The Sprague Public Library Internet Policy

The Internet resources throughout the Library are provided equally to all patrons. Parents are fully responsible for the activities of their children at the library. Youth under the age of fourteen will be required to have parental or guardian permission to access the Internet.

Personal computers are NOT allowed to access the Internet through the library’s internet line.

Not all the information available on the Internet is accurate, current, or complete. Some Internet content may be considered offensive by some people. Users are encouraged to exercise critical judgment in evaluating the validity of information accessed via the Internet. The Library assumes no responsibility for any damages, direct or indirect, arising from its connections to the Internet. Some Internet content may be illegal. Internet users may not view, print out or download any material considered illegal or obscene by local, state, and federal statutes.

Users are cautioned that security in an electronic environment such as the Internet cannot be guaranteed. All transactions, files and communications, e.g., credit card numbers and e-mail, are vulnerable to unauthorized access and use and should therefore be considered public.

U.S. copyright law (Title 17, U.S. Code) prohibits the unauthorized reproduction or distribution of copyrighted materials, except as permitted by the principles of “fair use”. Any responsibility for any consequences of copyright infringement lies with the user. The Library expressly disclaims any liability or responsibility resulting from such use.

Internet use will be managed according to the Standards of Patron Conduct posted in the Sprague Public Library.
